Night Strike
September 22, 2009

Attention Livingston and Crittenden County Middle and High School Students! Salem Baptist Church presents NIGHT STRIKE! Get your camo and face-paint on and come play a war game like nothing else you've ever experienced before! Saturday, October 3rd, 7:30-9:30 PM at the Salem Baptist Church Christian Life Center (the old Salem school), 209 Highland St., Salem KY 42078!

Question for church members: How are you serving in this outreach event? Several folks have let me know that they can help in one way or another. If you are planning on serving, but have not yet notified me, please do so. There are many opportunities to serve: bringing baked goods, serving food/drinks, set-up/tear-down, invitation counselors, and playing field positions (sniper, mp, commando). Also, if you have military/camo gear that we can use for this event, please notify me.

Lastly, please pray for this event. We have been and will continue to promote heavily for this event, but it is not enough for lots of students to come. Let's ask the Spirit of God to move in the hearts of young people and to draw them to Christ on the night of October 3rd.

Teaching Truth, Training Hearts is Coming!
September 15, 2009

If you are involved in children's ministry in any way and have not yet signed up for the one day training event taking place Saturday, September 26th, I just have one question for you:

"WHY?!"

If you care at all about children's ministry at our church and have no other prior commitments, you'd be crazy not to take advantage of this opportunity. I honestly believe that the quality of this conference ranks right up there with the top national children's ministry training conferences available today. The main differences are: 1) ours is free, and 2) ours is right here in Salem!

We have five main goals for the conference:

1. We want to be a blessing to the other churches in our community. We are offering the conference to others in the area that care about children's ministry. If you have friends and family in the area who work in children's ministry, talk this event up with them. Encourage them to call in and register.

2. We want to encourage a discipleship (not a baby-sitting) model in our children's ministry. Children are at the prime formative age to begin their spiritual development. We dare not miss this opportunity by approaching children's ministry as nothing more than babysitting. Our speakers are all committed to this model of children's ministry, and we should be too.

3. We want to encourage excellence in children's ministry. No matter how "good" we are doing what we do, we can always improve. If your reason for coming is to sharpen your skills, to get a philosophy of children's ministry to undergird your serving, or just to get new ideas, you will not be disappointed.

4. We want to highlight some of the best children's ministry resources available today. Let's face it, not every children's ministry resource is created equal. We have scoured the landscape of available resources and have come up with excellent recommendations -some will even be available for free at the conference.

5. We want to encourage local church partnerships with families. Biblically speaking, parents have the greatest responsibility to disciple their children. Practically speaking, parents are best equipped and have the most time available for such ministry. Our speakers will all address this issue and we have even added a parenting track for parents with young children.

So, if you have not yet registered, what are you waiting for?! Pick up the phone right now! With a great line-up of speakers and tons of great resources, this one-of-a-kind conference promises to be a great time of sharpening your knowledge and skills to make you a better minister to children in His name!
